Origin & Certification

Grown in the highlands of Jaén in northern Peru, this exceptional coffee comes from small, family-run farms nestled in one of the country’s most renowned coffee zones. These producers are part of cooperatives that focus on high-quality, traceable coffees using traditional and sustainable practices passed down through generations. This lot is certified organic at origin, meaning the coffee is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and handled with deep care for both the environment and the final cup.

This lot comes from organically certified farms in the Jaén region, where farmers focus on sustainable growing methods and environmental stewardship. While we aren’t USDA-certified ourselves, we proudly source this coffee from producers who follow certified organic practices at origin. Jaén holds Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, underscoring its reputation for producing some of the best Peruvian coffee.

Growing Conditions

At elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,950 meters, the slower growth of these Strictly Hard Beans (SHB) allows for denser, more flavorful cherries. The region’s unique microclimates and fertile soils—nourished by the Marañón, Tabaconas, and Huabal rivers—create ideal conditions for exceptional coffee. Once harvested, the coffee is fully washed using traditional processing methods and sun-dried, enhancing clarity and natural sweetness.

Flavor Profile

In the cup, you’ll find a bright, clean profile with vibrant acidity and natural sweetness. Depending on roast level, expect notes ranging from orange and almond in lighter roasts to rich dark chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts in darker profiles. This coffee offers a versatile experience across all roast levels—approachable enough for daily brewing, yet distinctive enough to stand out on any table.

Our Roasting Philosophy

At Dusty Rose Coffee Roasters, we roast every origin in small batches to preserve freshness and respect the character of each region. This Peruvian coffee reflects our belief in honest sourcing, intentional roasting, and giving back—one happy horse at a time.

We learned about Dusty Rose Coffee Roasters yesterday at the Aiken Fair, and we were super impressed! We decided on a bag of whole bean, dark Peruvian coffee and it was a smart choice. Their coffee has one of the best flavor profiles I’ve tasted in a long time. I love it, and will be purchasing again when my bag runs out!
